Liberal Youth Saves The University Book Shop
Harry Armistead | Saturday, January 30th, 2010 | View CommentsThe Liberal Youth and Students Society at the Lancaster campus of the University of Cumbria have successfully secured a new three-year contract for the owners of the campus book shop.
The owners of the family run book shop were threatened with closure at the end of the 2009/10 academic year. However the Liberal Youth and Students campaigned diligently and presented a petition of over 700 signatures to the Vice Chancellor with a proposal to relocate the book shop to a more accessible location on campus.
North West Liberal Youth President Nick Keilty said
“it seems so absurd that the university even considered not having its own book shop to serve the students and lecturers on campus.”
Although the book shop has not been relocated at this stage a renewed contract of three more years allows the Liberal Youth to continue campaigning on this wholly important issue.
