Liberal Democrat Councillors achieved remarkable success at the City Council annual business meeting in getting their group leader, Stuart Langhorn, elected as Leader of Council. This despite their group having only five councillors in a council of sixty, containing three groups of over ten councillors.

Liberal Democrats have discovered that on street car parking monies collected in Lancaster is to be distributed across Lancashire. We do not agree with this policy. All our County Council Candidates have been working tirelessly to collect signatures for a petition demanding that money raised from Lancaster on-street car parking charges are returned to the Lancaster District in much need investment into our highways.

On Friday 15th May 2009, Liberal Democrat Councillors joined local residents at the Victoria Institute in Caton, to hear expert views on the importance of Europe and the impact of custodial sentences on our nation's youth. County Council Candidate, Phil Dunster chaired the public meeting organised by the Lancaster and Fleetwood Liberal Democrats.
